A Lila quirk...

Do your kids ever do something that leaves you thinking, "That's just weird, man."

Lately Lila has taken to backseat driving. As in, she sits buckled into her car seat in the back and asks, "Mom? Are we going to da wight or da left?" That's not really the weird part though. The weird part is that she HATES to turn right with a passion that most two year olds reserve for leafy green vegetables. She only ever wants me to turn left. And you can't trick her either! She knows her right from her left, and the only thing that induces a tantrum faster than a right turn is a right turn executed after being told it will be a left turn. Which leaves me torn between laughing and exasperation as she screams through her tears, "NO! Turn left! Dis NOT da left!"

That's just weird, right?

Zoolander comes to mind when I read this. Maybe one day she will save the world when she decides she likes turning right! But on another note, maybe there was a place that was REALLY fun to her and you turned left to get there? She is so funny.

Sanders has a similar quirk. When we come to an intersection, he will point the direction he wants to go and say, "Dis way!" When we don't go that way, he wails and moans, "No! No dis way! DIS WAY!!!!"

Funny, Lila

Maybe we'd all have control issues in cars if we were strapped into seats fit for astronauts and only had a [very loud] voice we could use to assert our independence. Grace always yelled at me to go whenever we stopped at a stoplight, no matter how many times I explained why we had to do it!

we've been training Evan that his left shoe doesn't always have to go on first. Some days are better than others. :)

That's funny! My kids have yet to hate a direction. Charlie does have some road rage that he picked up somewhere (ahem Adam).
